Earth and rock dams, cofferdams for river diversion and the geotechnics for dams have been vocational fields for SC SEMBENELLI CONSULTING s.r.l..

Our experience in earth and rock dams derives in part from joint work with prominent figures in the field, such as Arthur Casagrande, George E. Bertram, Stanley D. Wilson. From them, we learned to be particularly keen in investigating and to consider a proper insight in foundation conditions and construction materials characteristics the keystones of a sound design.

Through the years, we have contributed to developing both laboratory and full scale testing procedures. Working world-wide and meeting widely different geological conditions and environments has helped developing a broad experience and an open-minded approach to solutions.

We have on record a variety of projects, from steel faced rockfills to homogeneous embankments to zoned earth and rock dams. Our frequent involvement with detailed design and construction supervision and the many assignments carried out for Contractors, has enhanced our construction-concerned design and attention to specifications.

Persons of the firm are active members of Consulting Boards and of Panel of Expert for some of the largest dams now under construction world-wide.
